supervised volunteers
. Each volunteer is either in the final stages of their training or holds a
Diploma, Degree, or Postgraduate qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

All our counsellors are members of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to its professional and ethical standards.
To ensure the highest quality of care, our volunteers undergo regular in-house training to keep their
knowledge and skills up to date.

Support Through Bereavement

Grief can be an isolating and deeply personal experience. Even those closest to you may
struggle to understand your feelings, find the right words, or know how best to support you.
At The Bereavement Counselling Services, we provide free, confidential support to
anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. Whether your bereavement is recent or
you continue to feel the impact months or even years later, we are here to help.

You may be experiencing a range of emotions, including:
- Sadness, anger, or resentment about your loss.
- A sense of struggling to cope or barely holding things together.
- Feeling like you should have “moved on” by now or that your grief should be
   different.
- Pressure to only remember the positive aspects of your loved one.

Whatever you are feeling, you don’t have to go through it alone. If you need a safe and
understanding space to talk, we are here to support you.

Acacia

Acacia Service – Compassionate Support for Life-Limiting Illness
In addition to our bereavement support, we offer the Acacia Service, dedicated to individuals facing a terminal illness, as well as their family members.

A terminal illness is a condition that cannot be cured and is likely to shorten a person’s life. It is sometimes referred to as a life-limiting illness. While some individuals may live for only days or weeks, others may continue their journey for months or even years, depending on their diagnosis and treatment.

Receiving a terminal diagnosis can be overwhelming, and coping with the emotional and practical challenges can feel isolating. That’s why we are here—to provide compassionate emotional, physical, and practical support tailored to your needs.

You don’t have to face this journey alone. The Bereavement Counselling Services is here to support you and your loved ones every step of the way.
